My name is Alexander McCrae and I am talking to you from the village called Portree on the Isle of Skye The Hebrides on the west coast of Scotland.It is here where I was born and after that I went to London to study electronics and as time went on I specialised in communication and in that area afterwards I further specialised in the area of speech and hearing and doing scientific research projects for such people as NASA,US Navy SeaLab Project and various other agencies.And up to that point I had never heard about evp.
I returned to work in the UK in what was then, Britains most secret project called "Chevaline".
It was only known to the Prime minister,the minister for Defense and the scientists and engineers who worked on it.And it was while I there that I went to the local library,there was a long weekend coming up, a Holiday weekend and I was hoping to get some humorous reading for the weekend.
There was a book on the shelf called "Carry On Talking".Now you may not have heard of them but in the UK there was a long series of films called with "Carry On".Doctor Carry On etc and I thought it was something of that sort so I took down the book and opened it up and found it was something called Electronic voice phenomena, or eve and I was totally shocked that they were telling people that you could record voices of people that had passed on.
And that was totally impossible, I mean I should know, I specialised in these areas.And then a couple of weeks later back in the library, returning the books I had actually taken out, I went for another sneer at this eve book and I went leafing through it and found some photos and one featured a well known electronics engineer working for a reputable company so I thought if it was good enough for him then I should take a look at it.
And I did and I tried and I could not get a result, but, I got results from other people on cassette tapes and I analysed them mathematically and there was actually a phenomena there.Now that doesn't mean it was a paranormal phenomena but it was a phenomena there at that time.
My evp work has take me from "proper" work and proper earnings and its all in all, its been a bit of a disaster.The first equipment I designed wasn't intended to be evp equipment.Like many things that have happened they have all been lucky accidents.And this is described in my book "Paranormal Voices".
Basically it was quite a different method from what everyone else had used up to that point.Indeed, quite different from what anyone else is using at this time.The system is called the "Alpha".The Mark 1 was the original one which I made 6 of and sent out to see if results could be captured by anybody which they were.
Then I made the Mark 2 which was an improved version that was actually being sold, there were people interested in it.And then there was the Mark 3.This was a much more complex version and it had a big box sort of thing that people now call "Franks Box".It was actually Alec`s box long time ago.There was one chap called Professor Carl Foster, Professor of Psychology at a South African University who ordered one and was so impressed by the results that he heaped praise on it.I wish I kept that and documented it.But unfortunately, over in the states things went badly wrong and there was one guy, a draughtsman, working for an electronics company, who told everyone he was an electronics engineer, who told everybody he was an electronics engineer and he trashed it.
I was already losing money on everyone I made so I just packed it in then and said enough.
So there hasn't really been a progression, but, soon there could be.!
With regard to Faraday cages, yes, there were people who said about evp "oh, its just pickup from radio stations or from voices from the street"so I thought okay.
I will take the whole kit and go down to Spain, and at that time, there were no stations in any other language other than Spanish so logically, if it was pickup it should all most be in spanish.But people were still upset about that.So then i went on a long search to try a faraday cage that was acceptable to me.The only thing I could get was over in California and the Faraday cage then was to US Military specification.It was like a large cube and it had a heavy bolt door and also inside it was isolated against sound.So, not only were radio waves prevented from getting in there but sound waves as well.
And thats where I did the experiment.And it just happened to be, by a series of other accidents on the third day of the third month of the this year of the third millennium.Which looks good but pure accident.Now even after getting voices in the cube, people said "oh well they are not really voices, they just sound like voices".
So then i had a listening panel of ten people but finally settled for seven.These were people i would send tests too over the years and there were the best of the fifty or sixty people i had been in touch with.And so i sent them ten of the utterances that were recorded in the faraday cage.All this is in my book , and the listening panel produced such results that you could rule out pareidolia. Something we have only recently heard about from the sceptics.There is some truth in people seeing patterns that are not there but its not a disease of any kind.
With regard to the original of the voices, well, I don't know anyone that can say, truthfully and factually anything in any depth about that.We have to do a lot more research before one can truthfully give any firm conclusion about the origin of the voices.Certainly they are paranormal, we know that,and certainly there are people who have all the answers.People in the spiritualist movement have already got the answers.There is not much point trying to convince them one way or the other.There have been occasions where predictions have occurred and i am going into that at length in the next issue of the magazine "The Portal".One occurred just before New Orleans that was hit by hurricane Katrina and the other one occurred just before five christian churches were time bombed in Iraq.The night that I got that, I don't know how I knew it was a prediction but I sent it out to a group of people including Sarah Estep who was then the head of AAEVP, the late Sarah Estep, too a guy that had revealed to me he was with the CIA and to one of two others like that.So that they would have the proof by giving them this information before the event.There will be more about it in the magazine.At the beginning there were many examples of swearing, threats and that sort of thing and that is covered in my earlier articles on the subject.In fact it was that which convinced me that it was evp right at the beginning because unlike the sort of thing that you read about books where you get things like oh its lovely here up in heaven,don't take too long before you come etc..sweet stuff..There were people swearing and rude, it was not nice at all.!That convinced me I had tapped in to something else here.I have never actually seen any psychokinesis, no PK phenomena.There have been instances of unlucky accidents and people including myself said "why does this always have to happen when i have got the best examples ever.." so, apart from that, no PK.I think there is a danger involved in researching this.I think it should only be done by professional researchers and there is such a thing.And its best done on a team basis.But certainly if a person is experimenting on there own they should take everything they hear with a pinch of salt.Be your own sceptic and also get two, three other people to check your interpretations.Possession is a possibility and this is something that needs seriously looking into.The general state of evp research worldwide, well, its terrible.I mean the advances that have been in eve work have all occurred because of defines or normal industry.The improvement in recording techniques, the improvement in noise reduction techniques.They owe nothing to eve experimenters.They owe their existence too people buying the products which paid for the research.And for government financing, such programs like the space program.So now its going off in all different directions.Its difficult to know who to believe.I am not very optimistic about it.
There is also fraud, and to be quite honest, the evp has already got a bad reputation and its reputation is going to get worse and worse and nobody is going to take it seriously which is unfortunate for those of us who have put so much work into it.The book "voices on the tapes" which was called "carry on talking" in the UK had claims that Pye staff heard the eve voices.Other sources claim two hundred engineers at Pye had heard eve, conditions using a faraday cage at Pye.Now if that had happened, and believe me, i know electronics and I know that if that had happened, then evp would have become a main research activity for the company.They would have snatched that up and gone with it.I have found out, since then, from David Ellis who is the editor of the Journal for the study of parapsychology, the SPR..he was present at that time and no, that did not happen.
There were promotional statements made at the time, to help the sales of the books "Breakthrough" by Raudive and "carry on talking" by Bander.
With regards to O`Neills evp claims, no that was either seriously deluded or fraud.And I suspect fraud.If you have seen the UK channel 4 program about evp there are some of the original video recordings of O`Neill talking to "doc Mueller" apparently .Now you never see him face on, you only see him from behind from some distance which is a little strange and if you watch that closely you will see O`Neill when he is talking he waves his arms around quite a bit and body movements and you would expect then when "mueller" talked then he would be still..but no, he is doing body moments when "Mueller" talks as well.Now this is quite easily done.
Very easily done.In fact, if you go back to round about 1938-39 it was done as an entertainment.All that one has to do in the spiritcom cases is pipe the spiritcom sounds into the mouth of the person and then by wobbling the mouth as the person is speaking, you will hear the speaking sounds.This is the sort of thing that happens when people have had something like a laryngectomy.
They have their larynx removed and the only way they can talk then is by having that vibrating thing placed against their neck and that simulates the sounds coming from the larynx in normal speech.And by wobbling their mouth around they can make it sound like speech.In actual fact we did a research project on that for one of the national health hospitals in Scotland and we did it better than anybody.
In fact, on the trials, the patients were vying with each other as to who could get to use that because they wanted it to be outer than the other one.Now unfortunately, the thing is, you are limited to the power you can produce and the equipment just kept blowing up because they were trying to get too much power out.
So that sort of fell by the wayside.With regard to Doc Mueller, that was a good yarn that was.Well, if you remember, their was a group..there was Doc Mueller, their was a farmer in west Virginia somewhere in the 16th century..well you see, you have too look into these things carefully.Now here was this farmer, or was he a forester,from those days, and he didn't talk in the old fashioned way.In fact, he used woods like "okay".But the word "okay" did not enter the english language, the American language that is until about 1842, who was a couple of centuries after he was supposed to have lived.And then, even stranger, he asked "whats that box" and the guide "wiiliam" said "tape recorder" and he had no questions and seemed to know what that was.And he also used the word robot or robotic.Now that word did not come into the english language until 1923.So here we were four hundred years after he was supposed to have lived.That one thing.Now Mueller was supposed to go up to a higher level you see and he couldn't communicate anymore.He was now too fancy don't you you see.He couldn't communicate with earthlings anymore.But he wasn't the only one, what about the farmer and there was another one as well.They seemed to have disappeared at the same time.Anyway to a German experimenter he (doc mueller)he literally was recorded in Germany and i had copy.Once again, if you know a little about speech and hearing, well, you know that Americans have their own vowel pronunciation as compared to say British or Italian.Now this "mueller" who was picked up in Germany was now speaking with German vowels.It was ridiculous.They got either $250,000.00 or $500,000.00 from McDonnell Douglas.They did well out of it.
Now with regard to the movements of the mouth, that was a strange story.Lady Helen Renshaw turned out to be quite a good subject and I asked her to talk "what is your name" etc and you will get a response and the Alpha system had two hand plates.So you put your hands on the plates and wobble them about as if you are doodling so that helps also.So we did these sessions and there was one guy called Barry and he did it and he was chatting away moving his hands and he didn't get a thing.Then Helen came along and she wasn't moving her hands or saying a thing.And turned suspiciously towards the camera then back again she was getting loads of stuff, quite good stuff, So then we did another couple of trials and i told her I was filming this for John Debney and you can access this through the magazine "The Portal Part One".
And in one you will see her say "what is your name",,she talks a little bit posh, but in a scottish way.And a reply comes, then a very strange one arrives .WE decide to do a question and answer session and you may see that her eye`s are blinking at a steady rate.I and not noticed it at the time but I did later on.When I showed her she even said "why am I blinking".Now that quite often indicates that the person is in a hypnogogic state.In the video, you see her there and an womans voice says "so long Alec" and this is the way I use to end my emails.
And i believe I recognised the voice, Amy Youngman, someone I knew about thirty years ago.I don't know whether she is still with us or not.You see Lady Hamilton`s mouth moving and saying that.But she didn't say that.If i had heard her saying that I would have said "what do you mean, your not going off already are you".So its a very strange case.Its like a case of a trance medium.The thing is, neither of us her her saying "so long ale" but we have got it on film.
